Dear Volunteer Director:

My name is Vonny Juwita. I am reaching out to you to find out if your organization has a need for a group of volunteers on Saturday, July 27th. I am a Project Leader for the Serve the City, a multi-church, city-wide event where groups of volunteers support local organizations. We would like to help with the needs you have, whether it is gardening, preparing meals, cleaning, or repairing. Is there a project we could do for you on July 27th? Thanks.

Best regards,

Vonny Juwita

HI:

I attended the LA Collaborative for Healthy Active Meeting (3/13/2013) at the California Endowment. Julia Cotts made a presentation and mentioned that you have lesson plans focused around nutrition, cookign, science for K-5. Would it be possible to get copies of the lesson plan to review?

Thanks,

Hello,

The Hart Seed Company located in Wethersfield, CT has started a Donations Department to distribute our surplus seed packets from our previous season to schools like yours for just the cost of shipping and handling ($5.00 – $14.95) It is a newly created department and we are trying to get the word out and thought that you might be interested.

Seed is available in sets of 100 assorted packets with a retail value of over $189 or more! We have several types of flower seed, as well as fruit (cucumber, tomato, peppers, etc.), leaf (assorted lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, etc.), various herbs, root (radish, carrot, beet, etc.) corn, beans and peas.

Please email me, Melissa Hart, at nicole@hartseed.com for more information. I hope to hear from you! This is a great opportunity for your school!

Please don’t forget my offer to donate seeds for all your school garden programs. We could do this on an ongoing basis. I just need to know what varieties and how many packets you need.

I will be traveling to Southern California this summer and want to visit schools that have an active ‘garden to table’ program. I’m particularly interested in greenhouse use and outdoor pizza oven use. Can you give me the names of schools and contact people so I can arrange a visit?

Thank you very much,

Hi, My name is Wendy Payne, I am the Executive Director of Deep Roots of Alabama, we are an educational gardening initiative in Huntsville, AL. We are working with a few schools in our city to start “seed to plate” educational gardens. One of the schools is K-7. I would be very interested to know when your curriculum is available for purchase. Our gardens are located in “food deserts” within our city and I know would be extremely helpful as we move forward in providing food for the cafeterias as well.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks for all the good you are doing in LA!

Hello! We are affiliated with Nina Clemente and was wondering if you would like to come out and visit our farm in the Spring! We are a biodynamic farm in Malibu sprawling over 11 acres. We are nestled in the Malibu hills, and a wonderful place to bring kids to teach them about biodynamic farming. We love your methods of teaching outside of the classroom in gardens, which is why Nina directed us to you. Please let me know if you would be interested and I will be able to send over more information about our ranch!

Dear Garden School Foundation

I am a student at a school in the L.A County, SFiAM. We were hoping that you could send us some free seeds for our class’ ecology program. One reason we would like the seeds because our school gave us a large garden and we have not been able to plant very many seeds. Please help us
From,
SFiAM Alexandra, 6th. grade

Hello, My name is Tyler Daly and I am the resource teacher at Frederick Douglass High School on Arlington and Adams. I am also a current grad student at LMU and am working on my masters project. I am VERY interested in starting a community garden at my school and would love to speak to someone from your organization about how to tap into the community of gardeners in the general area. I found your name when I stumbled across an article about Crenshaw’s gardening project.

We're over the moon to announce that the verynice. company, a global design, business, and innovation consultancy that dedicates over 50% of its efforts toward pro-bono services, has chosen our Seed to Table curriculum project as a recipient of it's incredible generosity!

We can hardly believe that this dream we've had for so many years is now going to become a reality!
